More Than A Blood Type

On Tuesday, November 16, we hosted an event in partnership with Versiti, Inc., the Indianapolis Public Library and The Pregame Podcast to educate our community on Sickle Cell Anemia!

This event was a one-on-one conversation moderated by our founder, Anthony Murdock II, featuring a subject matter expert from Versiti, Inc., Dr. Tajuana Ryder! Dr. Ryder spoke to the following topics:

• What causes Sickle Cell Anemia?

• Are there symptoms that might indicate you're sick?

• How do you know whether or not you're at risk of having Sickle Cell Anemia?

• Can you get tested to see if you have the trait or disease?

• Is there a cure for Sickle Cell Anemia?

• How do we support those living with Sickle Cell Anemia?

  • What can our community do to fight this disease?

• What qualifications are required to donate blood?

  • Are there dietary restrictions, blood type requirements, etc.
